On my own | Being neurodivergent in college
So…I dropped out of college.
And it’s my brain’s fault. Kind of.
If you’re wondering where I’ve been… yeah. I’ll explain everything, I promise.
Here’s the thing: I’ve done a few editorials on neurodivergence in the past; on autism, executive dysfunction, and OCD. Consider this a follow-up to those past editorials; me adding on to them with everything I’ve learned and experienced since then (which is a lot), and stuff I just forgot to cover the first time (which is also a lot).
THAT BEING SAID…
If you don’t know the difference between an excuse and an explanation, or you don’t particularly care about the difference, you’re not mature enough to be reading this. I’m going to be explaining a lot of my difficulties during college in the context of neurodivergence but let the record show that I don’t mean this to come off as me not taking responsibility for anything that happened.
Anyway, yeah. I started as a marketing major, then switched to journalism three years later.
And now… nothing.
But to truly understand, we’re going to have to go back even further.
