Bits And Pieces 6 | More Disconnected Thoughts
Hey everybody! Hope you’re doing well and staying safe, the weather’s crazy where I am now. Inspired by some recent and not-so-recent events, I have a couple of editorials planned for the near future. Until then, enjoy some more random thoughts that may or may not be elaborated on later.
So my editorial on Hogwarts Legacy ended up with a… mixed reception. I even lost a follower over it. On some level, I expected this. It’s a contentious topic, and if you were already tuned in to the drama by the time I wrote my editorial, it probably wasn’t anything you hadn’t heard before. I was just hoping that anybody who wanted a trans person’s perspective- albeit just one trans perspective of many- found what I had to say insightful. For the record, I still stand by what I said: I don’t support harassment over people playing this game.
On that note (possibly), VTuber Pikamee has announced her graduation (i.e. retirement) at the end of the month. Again, there are probably a number of factors at play, but it’s hard to picture that the harassment she faced for announcing her plans to stream the game didn’t play at least some part in this decision. I didn’t really watch her content, but after learning some more about her, this is just really sad.
For now, I am disabling email correspondence until I get a new address you can send me things to. Something went wrong, and now I have a “suspicious sign-in”. Hope nothing too bad comes from that.
My life has gotten to the point where it feels like long periods of static in between things I’m looking forward to. I have to give myself something in the near future to be excited for just to make it through the day. For instance, next week is when my spring break starts. After that, I start the countdown to my birthday, unless something else exciting comes up in the meantime.
With the end of Valentine’s Day came the usual discount on candy and other seasonal goods. I took advantage of the 50% off discount at my local Walgreens to stock up on all the candy hearts I’ll need for the foreseeable future. I also got my dad some of his favorite candy. When I go visit him next week during spring break, I’ll be sure to give it to him.
Question: Is lemonade a juice? This has been driving me crazy for years. Detractors will say “no” because lemonade isn’t pure lemon juice. To that, I ask whether or not apple and orange juices that aren’t 100% “real fruit juice” count as juice. We’ve all had “impure” apple juice and orange juice, and nobody insists that they don’t count. I guess this question boils down to whether or not “juice” is defined as the pure substance or the mixture.
Thanks so much for reading. Until next time, stay on the hook!
